Writing
Insert anything with /
Type / to pick a heading, list, table, drawing or image without leaving the keyboard.
What it is for
The toolbar has a button for most blocks, but reaching for it breaks your train of thought. Typing / keeps your hands where they are, and every command says what it does, so the menu also teaches you what a note can hold.
How to use it
- At the start of a line, or after a space, type /. A list of blocks opens under the cursor, each with a line explaining it.
- Keep typing to narrow it down: /h1, /table or /check. You can also type a word that describes it, like /todo or /photo.
- Press ↑ and ↓ to move, then Enter (or Tab) to insert. Clicking a row works too, and so does tapping one on a phone.
- Esc closes the menu and leaves what you typed as text. A slash in the middle of a word, like and/or, never opens it.

Notes during a meeting
Type /h2 for each agenda item and /check for anything you'll need to do, all without leaving the keyboard while people are talking.
Laying out a plan
Type /table for a comparison, /divider between options and /drawing to sketch how the parts fit together.
Good to know
- Drawings and images are marked Pro in the menu. Choosing one without Pro explains what Pro adds instead of inserting it.
- The menu doesn't open inside a code block or inline code, where a slash is part of the code.
