Offline and sync

Writing offline

Keep writing with no connection. Nothing is lost.

What it is for

Planes, trains and bad Wi-Fi should not decide whether you can write. Every keystroke is stored on your device first, before it is sent anywhere, so losing signal, closing the tab or a flat battery does not lose what you typed.

How to use it

  1. Keep typing as normal. A banner says you are offline, and the indicator beside the title reads Saved on this device instead of Saved.
  2. When the connection returns, your changes sync on their own. There is no sync button.
  3. Once you have used Mnemox on a device while online, you can open it again with no connection at all.

Example

A flight

Open the notes you will need before boarding, write for three hours, and they sync when you land — without you doing anything.

Good to know

  • Saved on this device is the app working as intended, not a warning. Your writing is safe.
  • You can make new notes and folders offline as well. They show up at once on this device, and on your other devices once this one reconnects.
  • A note you have never opened on this device shows in the list, but its contents are only stored once you have opened it online. Open what you will need before you go offline.
  • Push to Linear and Jira need a connection. Offline, the dialog says so and your note is untouched.
